On April 30, 2025, a new setting in Gmail will automatically delete emails older than 10 years. This change helps Geneseo comply with data retention policies, improve email management, and protect sensitive information by limiting its accessibility over time. You should review old emails and save any important information prior to April 30.

To view your messages received and sent prior to 2015, open Gmail and type in 'older_than:10y' on the top search bar. Would you like to keep a copy of an old email? In the web client, you can select Download Message from the 3 dots menu or print the message and save it as a PDF. Documents, no matter where they are stored, must comply with the SUNY Records Retention Schedule.
